POBA is Where The Arts Live!
POBA is a groundbreaking online arts hub that celebrates and features the works of exceptional artists who have died without recognition of the full measure of their talents or creative legacies, regardless of artistic genres and mediums.
Keeping Creative Legacies Alive
POBA was founded to showcase, promote and preserve their creative legacies through compelling displays and interesting human stories about these art makers. POBA accepts nominations of deceased under-recognized artists and creates displays of their works on POBA. Individuals who become Presenter Members can also create displays on a DIY basis using our comprehensive FAQs.
POBA also does more. Through online resources and tangible services, POBA assists individuals and institutions that own or manage a creative legacy or arts collection to preserve, protect, document, digitize, complete and in many other ways ensure these collections live on. POBA also assists working artists in managing their own works for future preservation, viewing, and value.

- Create and Display the art works of exceptional, deceased artists in one of more portfolios on POBA on a DIY basis or with POBA’s help.
- Sell (and buy) original art works and fine art prints of original works of artists displayed on POBA through the POBA Shop
- Use POBA’s personalized POBA Concierge and POBA-affiliated appraisers, archivists, cataloguers, producers, publishers, and more to organize, preserve, digitize, appraise, market, and sell creative works in all genres.
Help for Art Collectors
POBA assists individuals, estates and institutions that own or manage an arts collection of any type or size to authenticate, conserve, protect, document, digitize, complete and in many other ways ensure these collections have a long and vibrant future. POBA is Non-Profit
POBA is a program of the James Kirk Bernard Foundation, a nonprofit created to honor the artistic interests of Jamie Bernard, a young writer and artist (1987-2010) and to use his creative legacy as a springboard to recognize and support the legacies of other talented deceased artists, regardless of genre or medium. The Foundation sought to develop a project befitting Jamie’s artistic passion and talent and to ensure that the creative works and legacies of other under-recognized deceased artists can be enjoyed and appreciated long into the future.
POBA is the pronounced form of phowa, a Tibetan phrase that describes the transformation of consciousness at death to begin a new life. This phrase captures the essence of POBA: the enduring and transcendent power of the arts to transform the experience and consciousness of all who contact great works of art. Whether by creating them or by meeting them over time, we aim to give such works a new life on POBA.
